Pinterest and my flop!

Just keeping it real here, girls.  I love Pinterest.  I've made several recipes from Pinterest links, with great results.   Until this one, Strawberry Lemonade Bars.  This one took a couple weeks to make, as each time I set out to make it I would be short an ingredient.  So finally this week I got my act together and made it, carefully following the "test kitchen" recipe.

(these were not mine, but from the K&K Test Kitchen blog)

I had made these to take to my ladies Bible study, but had to leave them home! Yep, not even sprinkled powder sugar was going to make a save:

I'm not sure if I should try again or not?  Have any of you made this recipe yet?  Maybe I should just stick to lemon bars!  And eat my strawberries with plenty of whipped cream on the side!

If you'd like to take a look at my "Baking Corner" board on Pinterest, you can see my collection here:

I really want to make the Texas Roadhouse Copy Cat Rolls next......hope my yeast doesn't let me down!

Back to work now....I'm painting sign orders, and also packaging up "Vintage Scrap Packs" for Jenn's event next month, "Once Upon a Dream", which I am a sponsor.  I'm sure the girls there will have fun, Jenn's got lots lined up and she throws an event like no other!

Blessings, Heidi

Oh no Heidi--I had a flop of my own yesterday. While we were at the beach we ate at a lovely place called Kelly's. They served the most delicious sweet potato biscuits (I ate two) At the end of the meal they included the recipe with the receipt. I was surprised to see it only had four intredients--easy peasy right. I even weighed the sweet potatoes at the grocery to be sure of the correct amount. Came home, followed the recipe to the tee--I have no idea what I did wrong because these were NOT the biscuits I ate at Kelly's. They tasted good but were as flat as pancakes. My plan was to take a picture and share the recipe on my blog--well that will not be happening because my biscuits are not picture worthy. I guess I will have to eat the evidence of my flop before anyone other than my family can see :)

There must have been something wrong with the recipe (I think I pinned that one too!-yikes!) because you are a wonderful baker...I've seen but not tasted evidence to that fact! Maybe I'll just stick to craft projects. My friend Marie started doing a "I Pinned It & Did It" series of posts which I thought was a clever idea. Jump on.

I love pinterest too, but have yet to try to do "real" cooking from some of the ideas :) Just minis :) I've had many a "tried" attempts at things with baking and eventually I know you'll get it :) Persevere Heidi! :) I love those music sheets too!

I made that recipe and it didn't go well for me either. After I baked them and they were flat, I realized the recipe is basically the original lemon bars recipe, and that recipes has you beat the eggs with the sugar for five minutes until it's a light lemon color and about as thick as yogurt. If I venture to try the recipe again I'll do that. But I thought the recipe was too tart, and I didn't even use as much lemon zest as it called for. They sure looked pretty in the picture though.

After I posted the above comment I looked around a little further on your blog and realized we live in the same neighborhood. I'm from Myrtle Point! It's a small world.
